"The Voice of Today and Beyond!"

Although Radio had been around in the U.S. for a little while it was not until RCA (Radio Corporation of America) made its broadcast debut on July 2, 1921 with a heavyweight boxing championship, as Jack Dempsey defeated Georges Carpentier. Because of the lack of radio receivers, a majority of the listeners were in halls, where volunteer amateurs set up radio receivers, charging admission for the sponsoring charities.

In the 1940s, as Radio began to evolve as a medium and disc jockeys came into being, they picked their own music because nobody knew the difference and nobody complained. It was a marvelous bit of technology and it was all good.

Then in the 1950s, “Top 40” Radio was created. Playlists would never be as varied again and DJs would become less important as time went on in the choosing of music.

In the early 1960s, WABC-AM, New York, the premiere “Top 40” formatted station in the country. It was emulated nationwide…and around the world. But, during the ‘70s, the rise of the long-ignored FM band began to take root and formats diversified, experimentation began and the competition started to heat up for advertising dollars.

By the 1990s, commercial Radio had splintered into a multitude of formats, each one aiming at a very specific “target demographic”. No longer were stations capable of getting everyone to listen because it had all became very specialized.  Your local radio station still operates this way.  Many times one company owns several stations in a market.

J.P.C.S. helps you relate to your possible client, customer or consumer. Don't let local market production talent keep you from standing out and Being Heard!
